Diagnostic Test

- CHECK E-MOTOR COOLING SYSTEM
- Visually Inspect e- Motor Cooling System.
Were there any Leakages, Defective Parts or Improper Connections Found?
Yes
Repair/Replace the damaged parts in accordance with the service information.
No
- Go To 2
- Visually Inspect e- Motor Cooling System.
- CHECK TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- Vehicle ignition off and without charging (at least 6 hours).
- Measure ambient temperature and record.
- Using Scan tool, measure e-Motor Stator Temperature.
Is the difference between e-Motor stator temperature and ambient temperature greater than 8 degrees Celsius?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Clear all fault codes, key OFF, wait 30 seconds, then key ON, but do not crank, wait 30 seconds.
- If fault of interest is still present, go to 3. Otherwise, troubleshooting is complete.
- CHECK TEMPERATURE SENSOR WIRING HARNESS
- Disconnect Temperature Sensor wiring harness from PIM and from e-Motor.
- Check the harness for connector corrosion on both sides of the wiring harness. If temperature sensor wiring harness connectors have moderate to high corrosion, then replace wiring harness.
- Check continuity between motor side pin 5 to PIM side pin 23; motor side pin 6 to PIM side pin 22.
Was there continuity?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
Replace Wire Harness in accordance with the service information.

Is the resistance outside the value specified in the temperature/resistance reference table ?
Yes
- Replace the e-Motor. Refer to MOTOR, ELECTRIC, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Power Inverter Module (PIM). Refer to MODULE, POWER INVERTER (PIM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance between Pin 5, 6.
