Section 68 (Body - Interior & Exterior - 500 - Electric): Sunroof: Sunroof: Installation

CAUTION:

Protect all painted and trimmed surfaces from coming in contact with urethane or primers.

Using a long knife (2) or equivalent, cut and level the urethane bead (1) on the roof sunroof fence down to approximately 1 mm. (0.04 in.).
If re-using the sunroof frame, trim the remaining urethane bead on the sunroof frame down to approximately 1 mm. (0.04 in.).
Use alcohol wipes to clean the sunroof frame and roof flange mating surfaces.
Allow the areas that have been cleaned with the alcohol wipes to dry for 1 minute.

Apply urethane primer (2) to the urethane mating surfaces on the front (1), sides and rear edges of the sunroof frame.
NOTE:
Follow urethane primer manufacturer recommendations for application and dry times.

Apply urethane primer to the mating surfaces on the roof flange (2) and header (1).
Allow primer to dry per manufacturer directions.

Cut a 8 mm (5/16 in.) by 13 mm. (1/2 in.) notch in the urethane applicator nozzle (1).
Apply a bead of urethane (1) to the roof flange mating area. Starting in the front and ending in the front with the bead overlapping side by side.
Use a fiber stick or equivalent to work the front side by side bead to form to each other.
Apply a bead of urethane (1) to the roof header mating area
With the help of an assistant, carefully set the sunroof frame into the opening.

Adjust and verify the sunroof frame is set to proper gap and flush dimensions.
NOTE:
All measurements are in millimeters
- Sunroof header panel to body side aperture (1) Gap = 3.8 ± 2.1 Under flush = 4.6 +1 -2
- Sunroof glass to body side aperture (2) Gap = 3.8 ± 2.1 parallel within 2.0 Under flush = 3.5 +1 -2
- Sunroof glass to roof panel (3) Gap = 5.0 ± 1.6 parallel within 2.0 Under flush = 1.0 ± 1.6
Allow the urethane to dry per manufacturer recommendations.

Position the overhead console mounting bracket.
Install the three rivets to secure the overhead console mounting bracket.
Connect the sunroof wiring connector to the body harness.

Install the windshield (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .

Initialize the sunroof motor. Refer to SUNROOF INITIALIZATION .
Check for flushness of the sunroof glass.
Install the headliner (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .
