Cover, Seat Cushion, Front: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding with the following procedure, review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to WARNING  .

NOTE:

It is not necessary to remove the seat back from the seat to service the seat bottom cushion and cover.

NOTE:

Passenger seat shown. Driver seat similar.

  1. Remove the front seat being serviced and place it on a workbench. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  2. Using Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the trim cap (1) from the outboard seat cushion side shield (2).

  3. Remove the three screws (1, 2 and 4) that secure the outboard seat cushion side shield (3) to the seat.
  4. Disengage the front of the outboard seat cushion side shield from the seat and carefully remove the side shield.

  5. Using Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the trim cap (1) from the seat back recliner lever (2).

  6. Remove the screw (1) and washer (2) that secure the seat back recliner lever (3) to the seat and remove the lever.
  7. Remove the two screws that secure the inboard seat cushion side shield (4) to the seat and remove the side shield.

  8. Remove the four hog rings (1) that secure the back of the seat bottom cover (2) to the seat bottom frame (3).

  9. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors and wire harness leads from underneath the seat, when equipped with heated seats and/or an Occupant Detection Sensor (ODS). Refer to PAD, HEATER, DESCRIPTION and SENSOR, OCCUPANT DETECTION, DESCRIPTION .
  10. Disengage the J-clips (1 and 3) that secure the bottom-rear of the seat back cover together.
  11. Disconnect the air bag wire harness connector (2) and route the wire harness lead and connector through the seat bottom cover.

    NOTE:

  12. Disengage the two J-clips (2) that secure each side of the seat bottom cover (1) to the seat bottom frame (3).

  13. Disengage the J-clip (1) that secures the front of the seat bottom cover (2) to the seat bottom frame (3).
  14. Carefully remove the seat bottom cushion and cover from the seat bottom frame as an assembly. Route the heated seat and/or the ODS wire harness leads through the seat bottom frame, as equipped.
  15. If necessary, remove the seat bottom cover from the seat bottom cushion. Refer to DISASSEMBLY  .
