DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Liftgate: Installation

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12 volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12 volt system. You must perform the 12 volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

With the help of an assistant and using the reference marks, align and position the liftgate (1) onto the vehicle.
Install the fasteners (2) securing the tailgate (1) to the vehicle. Tighten the fasteners to 34 Nm (25 lbf-ft).
Install the prop rods. Refer to INSTALLATION .
Raise the headliner into position and install the push pin fasteners in the rear area.
Install the coat hooks.
Install the B-pillar trim. Refer to INSTALLATION .
Install the C-pillar trim. Refer to INSTALLATION .

Connect the washer hose/liftgate harness and install the boot (1).
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power up the 12 volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Connect the 12 volt negative battery cable.
Close the liftgate.
