Lamp, Tail Stop Turn: Removal: Bulb
Each rear lamp unit contains either three or four bulbs. Vehicles manufactured for markets where rear fog lamps are not required have three bulbs, which are: backup, park/stop and turn signal. The rear lamp units for vehicles manufactured for markets where rear fog lamps are required have four bulbs, which are: dedicated backup in the right rear lamp unit only, dedicated park in each rear lamp unit, dedicated rear fog in the left rear lamp unit only, dedicated stop in each rear lamp unit and dedicated turn signal in each rear lamp unit. The service procedures for each bulb are the same, only the bulb sizes and types may differ.
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the negative 12 volt battery cable.
- Remove the rear lamp unit from the end of the quarter panel. Refer to LAMP, TAIL STOP TURN, REMOVAL .
- Remove the four screws that secure the socket plate to the back of the lamp housing.
- Pull the socket plate (1) straight out from the back of the lamp housing (3).
- Firmly grasp the bulb (2) and pull the base of the bulb straight out of the socket plate.
