Lever, Parking Brake: Removal

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  3. Block the tire and wheel assemblies so the vehicle does not move once the vehicle parking brake lever is released.
  4. Remove the floor console. Refer to REMOVAL .
  5. Position parking brake boot (1) so that the mounting bolts and switch can be accessed.
  6. Release and lower the parking brake lever (5).
  7. Loosen the adjusting nut (4) on the equalizer and disconnect the brake actuation cables from the equalizer.
  8. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (6) from the parking brake switch.
  9. Remove the bolts (2) attaching the parking brake lever (5) to the vehicle.
  10. Remove the parking brake lever (5).
