Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With a scan tool, monitor the Clutch Upstop Switch state while pressing and releasing the clutch pedal.
Does the clutch pedal state change when pressing and releasing the clutch pedal?
Yes
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
No
- Go To 2
- CLUTCH SWITCH
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Clutch Switch harness connector.NOTE:
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminal one and terminal three of the Clutch Switch circuit harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, monitor the Clutch Upstop status.NOTE:
The scan tool should display the Clutch Upstop Switch status as not pressed with the jumper wire in place and pressed with the jumper wire removed.
Does the scan tool display the status as described above?
Yes
- Replace the Clutch Switch in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CLUTCH Upstop SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the ASD Relay connector.
- Connect a jumper wire between pin 30 and pin 87 of the ASD Relay connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn off all accessories.
- Measure the voltage on the Clutch Upstop Switch Signal circuit.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the short to voltage in the Clutch Upstop Switch Signal circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK RELATED PCM AND COMPONENT CONNECTIONS
- Perform any Service Bulletins that apply.
- Disconnect all PCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Check for spread terminals and verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all PCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Test drive or operate the vehicle in accordance with the when monitored and set conditions.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
