Gauge Pack, Instrument Cluster: Description: Notes

The Instrument Cluster (IC) (also known as the Instrument Panel Cluster/IPC) houses two analog gauges and two digital gauges that are standard on all models. The two analog gauges are the speedometer (2) and the tachometer (3). The analog speedometer and tachometer scales form concentric rings just inside the outer indicator ring (1) of the IC, the two digital gauges are the engine temperature gauge (6) and the fuel gauge (7). These digital gauges are actually digital bar graphs, whose segments form concentric arcs on the outer sides of the electronic display unit located in the center of the IC. In addition to the bar graphs, the electronic display unit provides numerous other indications and features including a digital numeric display of the odometer information (4) and a redundant digital speedometer reading (5). Gauge illumination is provided by dimmer controlled Light Emitting Diode (LED) units soldered onto the IC electronic circuit board.

The IC gauges, indicators, LED units and control switches as well as the electronic display unit are all integral components of the IC and its electronic circuit board. If any part of the IC is damaged or ineffective, the entire IC assembly must be replaced.
