C635 DDCT/C635 Transaxle

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover.
  3. Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to PUMP, VACUUM, REMOVAL .
  4. Install the (special tool #10299, Bracket, Engine Lifting) to the vacuum pump mounting location.
  5. Install the (special tool #8534B, Fixture, Driveline Support) across the inner fender supports.
  6. Rotate the lift handle enough to support the weight of the engine.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  8. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  9. Drain the engine oil. Refer to OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  10. Remove the transmission from the vehicle;
    • If equipped with C635 Manual Transmission. Refer to REMOVAL .
    • If equipped with C635 DDCT Transmission. Refer to REMOVAL .

  11. Remove the two bolts (1) and the flywheel dust covers (2 and 3).

  12. Remove the clutch and flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVAL .

  13. Remove fourteen bolts (1), two nuts and two studs (2) from the flange of the oil pan.
  14. Using the four indicated pry points, carefully remove the oil pan.

  15. Remove the tone wheel (1) from the crankshaft.

  16. Loosen the crankshaft position sensor mounting screw (3) just enough to remove and reposition the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP).
    NOTE:

    The screw (3) has a captured washer and does not need to be removed from the CKP sensor.

  17. Remove the six seal retainer attaching screws (1).
  18. Remove and discard the seal retainer (2).

  19. Remove all residual sealant (1) from the oil pan, engine block and oil pump. Refer to PAN, OIL, CLEANING .
