C635 Transaxle

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the bolts (1) holding the rear cross brace to the crossmember and remove the rear cross brace.
  5. Drain the engine oil. Refer to OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  6. Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2).
  7. Disengage the downstream oxygen sensor wire harness from the retainer (3).

  8. Remove the exhaust pipe center support bolt (1).

  9. Remove the nuts (1) that secure the exhaust pipe (3) to the catalytic converter.

  10. Remove the front muffler isolator (1) and reposition the exhaust pipe (2).

  11. Remove three bolts (1) from the flywheel dust cover.
  12. Remove the two lower transmission bell housing bolts (2).

    NOTE:

    The flywheel dust cover (2) is bolted to the oil pan and cannot be removed at this time.

  13. Remove fourteen bolts (1), two nuts and two studs (2) from the flange of the oil pan.
  14. Using the four indicated pry points, carefully remove the oil pan and flywheel dust cover.

  15. Remove the bolt (1) and the flywheel dust cover (2) from the oil pan.

  16. Remove all residual sealant (1) from the oil pan, engine block, oil pump and rear seal retainer. Refer to PAN, OIL, CLEANING .
