With Manual Transmission

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING .
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the manual transmission from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the two bolts (1) and the flywheel dust covers (2 and 3).
- Remove the clutch and flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVAL .
- Remove fourteen bolts (1), two nuts and two studs (2) from the flange of the oil pan.
- Using the four indicated pry points, carefully remove the oil pan.
- Remove the tone wheel (1) from the crankshaft.
- Loosen the crankshaft position sensor mounting screw (3) just enough to remove and reposition the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP).NOTE:
The screw (3) has a captured washer and does not need to be removed from the CKP sensor.
- Remove the six seal retainer attaching screws (1).
- Remove and discard the seal retainer (2).
- Remove all residual sealant (1) from the oil pan, engine block and oil pump. Refer to CLEANING .
