Sentry Key Transponder Programming

All Sentry Keys included with the vehicle are pre-programmed to work with the Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) integral to the Body Control Module (BCM) when the vehicle is shipped from the factory. The SKIM within the BCM can be programmed to recognize up to a total of eight Sentry Key transponder units. When adding or replacing a Sentry Key transponder, the new Sentry Key must be ordered by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) already cut to match the lock cylinders in the vehicle for which it will be used. Once the mechanical key has been cut, the SKIM integral to the BCM must be programmed to recognize it as a valid key transponder.
