Diagnostic Test

- CHECK ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (EVCU) DTCs
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in the EVCU.
Are there any EVCU Stop Lamp Switch related DTCs present?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (EVCU) MODULE - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX - 500 - ELECTRIC .
No
- Go To 2
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in the EVCU.
- STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION/ADJUSTMENT
- Verify the stop lamps are operating correctly.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply.
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Stop Lamp Switch and the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU).
- Perform the Stop Lamp Switch Adjustment procedure. Refer to SWITCH, STOP LAMP, INSTALLATION
.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, monitor the brake pedal pressure and the status of the brake pedal switch while slowly pressing the brake pedal.
Was there Brake Pressure after the Brake Pedal Switch status changed?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, REMOVAL .
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- (B135) BRAKE SIGNAL 1 CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the Stop Lamp Switch harness connector.
- Measure the voltage between the (B135) Brake Signal 1 circuit and ground.
Is the voltage below 0.5 volts?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (B135) Brake Signal 1 circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- (B135) BRAKE SIGNAL 1 CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the (B135) Brake Signal 1 circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 0.5 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the (B135) Brake Signal 1 circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance between the (B135) Brake Signal 1 circuit and ground.
- ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (EVCU)
- Replace the Stop Lamp Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
- Start the engine.
- Press and release the brake pedal.
- With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the DTC remain active?
Yes
- Replace and program the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) in accordance with the service information. Refer to UNIT, ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL (EVCU), REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test Complete.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
