Diagnostic Test
- DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED FAULT CODE NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
Is DTC B012B-2F-DRIVER EARLY CRASH SENSOR - SIGNAL ERRATIC active?
Yes
WARNING:Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE:Inspect the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary. Recheck for active DTC B012B-2F-DRIVER EARLY CRASH SENSOR - SIGNAL ERRATIC. If still active go to 2 If DTC B012B-2F-DRIVER EARLY CRASH SENSOR - SIGNAL ERRATIC is stored repair is complete. Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- VERIFY OPERATION OF THE FRONT LEFT IMPACT SENSOR WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the Front Left Impact Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, IMPACT, REMOVAL .
- Reconnect the vehicle body harness to the impact sensor.
- Remove any special tools or jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components - except the Battery.WARNING:
Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Use the scan tool and erase the stored codes in all airbag system modules.
- Turn the Ignition Off, and wait 15 seconds before turning the Ignition On.
- Wait one minute, and read active codes.
Did the active DTC: B012B-2F-DRIVER EARLY CRASH SENSOR - SIGNAL ERRATIC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair is complete.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- REPLACE THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace the ORC in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
