Instrument Panel

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the 12-volt negative battery cable.
  2. Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Partially remove the instrument panel support to gain access to the air outlet temperature sensor (3), located on the upper right side of the HVAC housing (4). Refer to PANEL, INSTRUMENT, REMOVAL .
  4. Using Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) (1) or equivalent, disengage the air duct temperature sensor from the HVAC housing.
  5. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness (2) from the air outlet temperature sensor and remove the sensor.
