Actuator, Blend Door: Removal: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the 12-volt negative battery cable.
  2. Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the glove box bin. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
  4. Partially remove the instrument panel cover to gain clearance to remove the blend door actuator (1) from the right side of the HVAC housing (5). Refer to COVER, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .

    CAUTION:

Use care when removing the blend door actuator to prevent damage to the blend door linkage. If required, disconnect the blend door linkage from the blend doors and then separate the linkage from the blend door actuator.

  7. Disengage the blend door actuator from the blend door linkage and remove the actuator.
