Regenerative Brake Controller (RBC) Bleed Procedure

NOTE:

When replacing a Regenerative Brake Controller (RBC), the routines MUST BE PERFORMED IN ORDER  after each routine has passed.

  1. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the Swapped Line Test routine. If routine fails, check lines between Regenerative Brake Controller (RBC) and Brake Operating Unit (BOU) for correct connections.
  2. Using the scan tool and 30psi pressurized fluid supply, under "Miscellaneous Functions" and "System Test" perform the Bleed Brake routine.
    NOTE:

    Perform all of the next steps in order within the same ignition cycle.

  3. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the PTS Calibration routine.
  4. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the Boost Piston/Sense Piston Pressure Calibration routine.
  5. Using the scan tool, under "System Test" perform the Bleed Brakes Verification routine.
    NOTE:

    Any time the scan tool is communicating with the Regenerative Brake Control Module while in motion, the brake pedal will become stiff requiring extra effort to apply the brakes. This will remain active up to 10 kilometers per hour (6 mph). Once 10 kilometers per hour is exceeded, the pedal feel will return to normal. While the RBC is in DIAGNOSTICS MODE the ABS, ESC, RBS and BRAKE warning lamps will be illuminated.

  6. If all routines passed, Test Complete. If not re-bleed and repeat again from step 3.
