Controller, Regenerative Brake (RBC): Description: Description

The RBC is an electro-hydraulic component that is designed to slow and assist with stopping the vehicle. The RBC is capable of reclaiming energy by converting the inertia energy of the moving vehicle known as kinetic energy into electric energy, thus regenerating it.

The controller is incorporated within the pump assembly and is not serviced separately. The unit has four brake lines attached to it. There is one 72-pin electrical connector.

The unit is mounted near the ABS module under the 12 volt battery area. The unit is mounted by way of three rubber isolators. The RBC has diagnostic capabilities that can be performed using a scan tool.

NOTE:

Any time the scan tool is communicating with the Regenerative Brake Control Module while in motion, the brake pedal will become stiff requiring extra effort to apply the brakes. This will remain active up to 10 kilometers per hour (6 mph). Once 10 kilometers per hour is exceeded, the pedal feel will return to normal. While the RBC is in DIAGNOSTICS MODE the ABS, ESC, RBS and BRAKE warning lamps will be illuminated.
