Seat Back, Front: Removal: Removal

Passenger seat shown. Driver seat similar.

Remove the front seat being serviced and place it on a workbench. Refer to SEAT, FRONT, REMOVAL .
Using Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the trim cap (1) from the outboard seat cushion side shield (2).

Remove the three screws (1, 2 and 4) that secure the outboard seat cushion side shield (3) to the seat.
Disengage the front of the outboard seat cushion side shield from the seat and carefully remove the side shield.

Using Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the trim cap (1) from the seat back recliner lever (2).

Remove the screw (1) and washer (2) that secure the seat back recliner lever (3) to the seat and remove the lever.
Remove the two screws that secure the inboard seat cushion side shield (4) to the seat and remove the side shield.

Disengage the J-clips (1 and 3) that secure the bottom-rear of the seat back cover together.
Disconnect the air bag wire harness connector (3).
Disconnect the heated seat wiring harness connector, when equipped with heated seats. Refer to PAD, Heater - DESCRIPTION .

WARNING:
Do not reuse the bolts that secure the seat back frame to the seat. Always discard and replace the seat back bolts with new bolts. Reinstalling the original bolts may result in the seat back becoming loose after repair. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.
Remove and discard the two bolts (2) that secure each side of the seat back frame (1) to the seat bottom frame (3).

Disconnect the seat back recliner cable (2) from the seat back recliner lever (1).
Remove the seat back frame, cushion and cover (3) as an assembly from the seat bottom.
If necessary, remove the seat back cover and cushion from the seat back frame. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .
