Lamp, Dome: Removal: Lamp
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
The dome lamp may include two switches that allow independent switching of the two lamps for use as reading lamps or to override the door ajar switch activation of these lamps. Also, on vehicles equipped with the Blue And Me option, the dome lamp may include an integral microphone. If the switches, the lamp wiring or the microphone are damaged or ineffective, the entire dome lamp unit must be replaced.
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the negative 12 volt battery cable.
- Carefully insert a trim stick or another suitable wide flat bladed tool between the dome lamp unit (2) housing and the mounting bracket (1) on the headliner.
- Gently and evenly pry the lamp downward until the retainers unsnap from the mounting bracket.
- Pull the lamp away from the mounting bracket far enough to access and disconnect the wire harness connector from the back of the lamp. If equipped, also disconnect the wire harness connector from the Blue And Me microphone.
- Remove the lamp from the vehicle.
