Check Continuity And Short Circuit Of 3-Phase Wire Harness

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE to perform the High Voltage Power Down procedure.

NOTE:

Any time the Power Inverter Module (PIM) cover is removed, it MUST BE REPLACED due to a non reusable seal.

  1. Disconnect 3-Phase Wiring Harness from PIM and e-Motor.
  2. Probe e-Motor side pin 3 to PIM side pin 1, should be short.
  3. Probe e-Motor side pin 2 to PIM side pin 2, should be short.
  4. Probe e-Motor side pin 1 to PIM side pin 3, should be short.
  5. Probe e-Motor side pin 1 to PIM side pin 1, 2, should be open.
  6. Probe e-Motor side pin 2 to PIM side pin 1, 3, should be open.
  7. Probe e-Motor side pin 3 to PIM side pin 2, 3, should be open.
  8. If any of the above steps are not true, then replace 3-Phase Wiring Harness.
