Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR MULTIPLE DTC'S 
    1. Turn the Ignition ON, Vehicle in ready mode.
    2. With the scan tool check for active DTCs.

      Was DTC P0A78-00 found?

      Yes 

      Diagnose this DTC first in accordance with the service information.

      No 

      • Go To  2
  2. CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. With the scan tool, record the Environmental Data for this DTC.
    2. Clear the DTC.
    3. Ignition OFF for 30 seconds, Turn Ignition to ON position, Vehicle not in Ready Mode, Vehicle Gear Selector Module (GSM) in Park.
    4. With the scan tool check for active DTCs.

      Did the DTC reset?

      Yes 

      • Go To 3

      No 

      Perform the following Standard Procedures. If no defects are found in the 3 Phase Wire Harness or the e-Motor then go to. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE . Refer to  3.

      NOTE:

      If you can not perform the Check electrical resistance between e-Motor phases test, then with the scan tool, perform the Offset Angle Relearn Procedure. If there is an Angle Failure DTC, execute respective check list.

      Visual check of 3-Phase Wiring Harness between e-Motor and PIM
      Check continuity and short circuit of 3-Phase Wiring Harness
      Check electrical resistance between e-Motor phases
      Resolver Relearn Procedure
  3. POWER INVERTER MODULE 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact.
    4. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply. Perform any Software Upgrades that may apply.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
