Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    NOTE:
    NOTE:  Extreme operating conditions in very high ambient temperatures may cause this DTC to set. 
    Allow vehicle to sit for 15 - 30 minutes with ignition off and not plugged in to allow the compressor to cool off if it is overheating. 

    Turn the ignition on.

    1. Using the scan tool, record and erase EAC DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off. Wait one minute.
    3. Turn the ignition on, vehicle in ready mode.
    4. Operate the A/C system for up to two minutes.
    5. Using the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2.

      No 

      • The condition that caused this code to set is not present at this time. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. CHECKING THE A/C CONDENSER FAN OPERATION 
    NOTE:
    NOTE:  Visually inspect the condenser for any debris which may be blocking airflow. 

    Turn the ignition off.

    1. Turn the ignition on, vehicle not in ready mode.
    2. Using the scan tool, actuate the electric cooling fan.

      Is the cooling fan operating normally?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3.

      No 

      • Using the wiring diagram as a guide, diagnose and repair the cooling fan system.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECKING A/C SYSTEM STATE OF CHARGE 
    1. Stop cooling fan operation.
    2. Turn the ignition off.
    3. Connect an approved A/C recovery machine to the A/C system.
    4. Check the A/C system state of charge.

      Is the A/C system under charged ?

      Yes 

      • Charge the A/C system with the proper amount of Freon in accordance to the service information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4.
  4. CHECK FOR A RESTRICTION IN A/C PLUMBING 
    1. Turn the ignition on, vehicle in ready mode.
    2. Operate the A/C system and monitor the low and high pressure gauge readings for up to five minutes.

      Is the A/C system low pressure gauge reading low, and the high pressure reading excessively high?

      Yes 

      • Repair the restriction in the A/C plumbing in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
