Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK IF THE CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    Diagnose any Can C or Can B DTCs before continuing.

    NOTE:

    If Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) was swapped out from another vehicle, it will cause this DTC to set. The SKIM key can not be rewritten. If the module has been swapped out, replace and program the EVCU with a new module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to UNIT, ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL (EVCU), REMOVAL .

    1. With the scan tool, read Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) DTCs.

      Is the status for this DTC Active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. IMPLAUSIBLE OR INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM VEHICLE SECURITY CONTROL MODULE 
    1. With the scan tool, attempt to communicate with the BCM.

      Can the scan tool communicate with the BCM?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) TROUBLE CODES SET 
    1. With the scan tool, check for BCM DTCs.

      Are there any DTCs present in the BCM?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. VIN PROGRAMMED INTO EVCU 
    1. With the scan tool, check the VIN that is programmed in the EVCU.

      Has a VIN been programmed into the EVCU?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Program the correct VIN into the EVCU and retest.
      • Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST
  5. ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (EVCU) 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Body Control Module (BCM) and the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU).
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    4. Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
