Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
- Turn the Front Wiper on.
- Wait for 10 seconds.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (W3) FRONT WIPER LOW SPEED DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
- Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (W3) Front Wiper Low Speed Driver circuit between the Front Wiper Motor harness connector and the BCM C4 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open in the (W3) Front Wiper Low Speed Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (Z910) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z910) Ground circuit at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open in the (Z910) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z910) Ground circuit at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
- CHECK THE BCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Reconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
- Connect a 12-volt test light between the (W3) Front Wiper Low Speed Driver circuit and the (Z910) Ground circuit at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Front Wiper on and off.
Does the test light illuminate correctly as the Front Wiper is commanded on and off?
Yes
- Replace the Front Wiper Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MOTOR, WIPER, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
