Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. ACTIVE DTC
    NOTE:

Before performing this diagnostic test, check the coolant reservoir, if it is low fill the reservoir in accordance with the service information.

    Turn the ignition on.

    1. With the scan tool, record and erase BPCM DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off. Wait 3 minutes.
    3. Turn the ignition on. Wait 3 minutes.
    4. With the scan tool, actuate the Battery Coolant Pump Duty Cycle in the Electronic Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) Actuators screen.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. CHECK THE (D515) LIN BUS CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Battery Coolant Pump harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage between ground and the (D515) LIN BUS circuit at the Battery Coolant Pump harness connector.

Is the voltage above 5.0 volts?

      Yes

      • Go To  5

      No

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (D515) LIN BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the High Voltage Battery Pack C3 low voltage harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the (D515) LIN BUS circuit between the Battery Coolant Pump harness connector and the High Voltage Battery Pack C3 low voltage harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  4

      No

      • Repair the (D515) LIN Bus circuit for an open between the Battery Coolant Pump harness connector and the High Voltage Battery Pack C3 low voltage harness connector.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BPCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE (D515) LIN BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure the resistance of the (D515) LIN BUS circuit between ground and the Battery Coolant Pump harness connector.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes

      No

      • Repair the (D515) LIN Bus circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BPCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. PRESSURE TEST THE BATTERY COOLANT SYSTEM
    1. Turn the ignition off.
      NOTE:

The Battery Coolant System Pressure Test requires the running of a diagnostic routine that operates the coolant pump. Trapped air in the coolant system may allow the pump to overspeed and shutdown interrupting the test and setting additional DTCs.

    2. Perform the HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLANT SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST. Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLING AND HEATING SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

Does the Battery Coolant System pass the Pressure Test?

      Yes

      • Go To  7

      No

      • Go To  6
  6. RETEST THE BATTERY COOLANT SYSTEM
    NOTE:

If the pressure test failed or did not complete the diagnostic routine in the previous step, the BPCM may set DTC P0C32-00 BATTERY COOLING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE and/or reset this DTC P0E3B-00 BATTERY COOLANT PUMP OVERSPEED.

    1. Repeat the HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLANT SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST. Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLING AND HEATING SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

Does the Battery Coolant System pass the Pressure Test?

      Yes

      • Go To  7

      No

  7. ACTIVE DTC
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase BPCM DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition off. Wait 3 minutes.
    4. Turn the ignition on. Wait 3 minutes.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes

      No

      • Test complete.
