Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
    1. Ignition on
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase BPCM DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition off. Wait 3 minutes.
    4. Turn the ignition on. Wait 3 minutes.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
  2. CHECK THE (K25) RADIATOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the High Voltage Battery Pack C3 low voltage harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the (K25) Radiator coolant Temperature Sensor Signal circuit in the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor harness connector.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Repair the (K25) Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BPCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE (K25) RADIATOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (K91) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
    1. Measure the resistance between the (K25) Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor Signal circuit and the (K91) Sensor Ground circuit in the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor harness connector.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  4

      No

      • Repair the (K25) Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to the (K91) Sensor Ground circuit.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BPCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. RADIATOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Connect a jumper wire between the (K25) Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor Signal circuit and the (K91) Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor Ground circuit in the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase BPCM DTCs.
    5. Turn the ignition off. Wait 3 minutes.
    6. Turn the ignition on. Wait 3 minutes.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC P00B3-00 RADIATOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW as active?

      Yes

      • Replace the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BPCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No

      • Go To  5
  5. BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM)
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor and the High Voltage Battery Pack.
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    4. Monitor the scan tool data relative to this circuit and wiggle test the wiring and connectors.
    5. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
    6. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes

      • Repair as necessary.
