Section 94 (Charging (Service Information) 500): Generator: Installation: Installation

  1. Carefully position the generator (3) up to the engine block and loosely install the bottom two generator mounting bolts (2).
  2. Install the top generator mounting bolts (1).
  3. Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install the generator B+ cable on the generator stud. Tighten nut to 4 N.m (36 In. lbs.).
  5. Connect the field generator harness connector.

  6. Install the intermediate shaft and right side axle shaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  7. Install the belly pan (1). Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Install the accessory drive belt (4). Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m 45 in. lbs.).
  11. Start the engine and verify the generator is operating properly.
