Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (D333) ELECTRIC COOLANT PUMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage between ground and the (D333) Electric Coolant Pump Signal circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Go To  4
  3. CHECK THE ELECTRIC COOLANT PUMP RELAY 
    1. Remove the Electric Coolant Pump Relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
    2. Measure the voltage between ground and the (D333) Electric Coolant Pump Signal circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      No 

  4. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Electric Coolant Pump and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the related connectors.
    4. Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
