- VISUAL INSPECTION OF 3-PHASE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN E-MOTOR AND PIM
- Verify correct order of U/V/W connection at PIM and e-Motor.
- Verify tight connections at PIM and e-Motor.
- Inspect 3 Phase Wire Harness for damage (pinched, bent, cut).NOTE:
Any time the Power Inverter Module (PIM) cover is removed, it MUST BE REPLACED due to a non reusable seal.
Disconnect 3 Phase Wire Harness from PIM and check for melted or damaged Connectors.
Was there any damage to the connectors?
Yes
- Replace 3-Phase wire harness according to written service procedure
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE OF E-MOTOR PHASES
-
Disconnect 3 Phase Wire Harness from e-Motor.
- Use a qualified micro Ohm measurement instrument to measure the resistance value between the three pins (U/V/W) of the e-Motor, 3 measurements in total (U-V, U-W, V-W).
Is the Resistance OK?
Yes
- Replace the e-Motor.
Refer to MOTOR, ELECTRIC, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Replace the e-Motor.
-
- CHECK CONTINUITY AND SHORT CIRCUIT OF 3-PHASE WIRING HARNESS NOTE:
Any time the Power Inverter Module (PIM) cover is removed, it MUST BE REPLACED due to a non reusable seal.
Disconnect the 3 Phase Wire Harness from the PIM and the e-Motor.
- Using a qualified Multimeter, make the following measurements.
Probe motor side pin 3 to PIM side pin 1, should be short Probe motor side pin 2 to PIM side pin 2, should be short Probe motor side pin 1 to PIM side pin 3, should be short Probe motor side pin 1 to PIM side pin 1, 2, should be open Probe motor side pin 2 to PIM side pin 1, 3, should be open Probe motor side pin 3 to PIM side pin 2, 3, should be open Were the above Tests true?
