Converter, Catalytic: Removal: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the two vacuum fittings (4), loosen the clamp (3) at the air to turbocharger inlet tube.
  3. Disconnect the fresh air intake hose (2).
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly (1).

  5. Remove the upper heat shield bolts (1). Remove and discard the nuts (2).

  6. Remove the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) supply hose (5) from the turbocharger.
  7. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield (3).
  8. Disconnect the upstream and downstream oxygen sensor connectors.

  9. Loosen the catalytic converter clamp (2) at the turbocharger (1).
  10. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to HOISTING .
  11. If equipped, remove the belly pan.

  12. Remove the front exhaust pipe support bolt (2).
  13. Remove the exhaust flange nuts (1).

  14. Remove the nuts that secure the cross under pipe to the catalytic converter.
  15. Remove the front exhaust pipe and flange gasket.
  16. Remove the converter mount bolts (3).
  17. Remove the catalytic converter lower support mount (2).
  18. Carefully lower the catalytic converter (1) down and out of the vehicle.

  19. Remove the catalytic converter gasket ring (1).
