Tank, Fuel: Removal: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel pump module (3). Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the fuel from the fuel tank. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE  .
  4. Replace the fuel access hole cover to reduce fuel odor.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING .

  6. Remove the muffler (2) and resonator (3). Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .

  7. Remove the fuel filler connector (5) from the fuel tank (3).

    NOTE:

    The heat shield and the fuel tank support straps are part of the fuel tank and do not require being removed from the tank. If the fuel tank is being replaced. The new tank will have the support straps and heat shield mounted.

  8. Using a suitable jack. Support the fuel tank.
  9. Remove the fuel tank (1) from the vehicle.
