The viscosity sensor is located on the front (engine left) side of the oil pan near the bottom.
The viscosity sensor is a durable component but must be handled in a specific manner when it is not installed in the vehicle. The sensing end of the viscosity sensor can be damaged if it is mishandled. The following guidelines must be followed when servicing the viscosity sensor:
- Keep the viscosity sensor in its protective packaging until ready to install the sensor.
- Never touch or apply any force to the sensing elements.
- Before installing, verify that the O-ring is in place on the sensor.
- The sensor should be installed and tightened using the metal hex and NOT the plastic body.
