WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
  4. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL  .
  5. Remove the fasteners (1) securing the latch to the liftgate.

  6. Disconnect harness connector (2) from the latch (1).
  7. Remove the latch (1) through the access cavity in the liftgate.
