Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
This DTC may set if there is a loss of communication between the PCM and BCM or a CAN bus concern. Diagnose and repair any U-codes prior to diagnosing this DTC.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - 500 - EXCEPT ELECTRIC .
- CHECK THE PCM FOR DTCS
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Are any DTCs present in the PCM?
Yes
- For 16V, refer to 1.4L 16-VALVE - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX - 500 . For 16V Turbo, refer to 1.4L 16-VALVE TURBO - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX - 500 and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - 500 - EXCEPT ELECTRIC .
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
