Diagnostic Test

  1. ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (EVCU) DTCS 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, view DTCs in the EVCU Module.

      Are there any EVCU DTCs present?

      Yes 

      • Perform the appropriate EVCU diagnostics in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  2.
  2. CHECK THE OBCM WAKE-UP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the OBCM harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the EVCU harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the OBCM Wake-up Signal circuit at the OBCM harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms

      Yes 

      • Go To  3.

      No 

      • Repair the OBCM Wake-up Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE OBCM WAKE-UP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the OBCM Wake-up Signal circuit between the OBCM harness connector and the EVCU harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4.

      No 

      • Repair the OBCM Wake-up Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the Ground circuit between the OBCM harness connector and the EVCU harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms

      Yes 

      • Go To  5.

      No 

      • Repair the Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. ON-BOARD CHARGING MODULE 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the connectors at the Charge Port connector and the On-Board Charging Module (OBCM).
    2. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    3. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
