Place the shifter in soft jaw vise.
Remove the backup lamp switch.

Remove the outer shifter selector lever nut and remove the lever.

Remove the shifter selector shaft complete with O-ring.

Position lever to allow access to roll pin and remove the roll pin.

Gently pry the bushing (2) over to allow access to the selector shaft snap ring (1) and remove the snap ring.

Remove the selector shaft from the shifter housing.

Remove the guide.

Remove the internal selector lever assembly (2) along with spring and bushing (1).

Remove bushing and spring.

Remove the selector shaft oil seal using a suitable tool.

Clean and inspect components, paying particular attention to sealing and bushing mating surfaces. If bushings in housing (1) are worn, the entire shifter assembly must be replaced.
