Shifter, Transmission: Assembly: Assembly

Install new selector shaft seal using an appropriate tool.

Install bushing and spring.

Install the spring and bushing (3) and internal selector lever (1) at the same time. The indexing notch (2) should be facing up as shown in illustration.

Install the guide.

Install the selector shaft, making sure the roll pin hole in the guide will align with hole in shaft.

Gently pry bushing (2) over to install snap ring (1).

Install roll pin.

Install new O-ring on shifter shaft and install shaft into housing.

Install shifter lever and tighten to 16 N.m (142 in. lbs.).

Install back up lamp switch and tighten to 38 N.m (28 ft. lbs.).
Install shifter assembly on transmission.
