Section 27 (Battery System (Service Information) 500 - Electric): Battery: Removal: Removal

ANY TIME BATTERY CABLE TO CLAMP NUTS ARE LOOSENED/REMOVED, THEY MUST BE REPLACED.

  1. Loosen the battery negative clamp nut (1). Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Loosen the battery positive clamp nut (2). Disconnect the positive battery cable.

  3. Remove the 12 volt battery upper hold down nut (1).
  4. Lift the hold down forward hook (2) out of the retainer.
  5. Remove the hold down (3).

  6. Loosen the battery lower hold down bolt enough to allow for battery movement.
  7. Remove the battery from the vehicle.
