Section 71 (C514 Manual Transmission (Service Information) 500 - 1.4L 16-Valve): Removal: Removal

- Remove battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Remove air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the ground strap (1) from the transmission.
- Disconnect backup lamp switch connector (1).
- Remove the slave cylinder bolts (1) and secure the cylinder out of the way.
- Disconnect shift selector cable (1) from the lever.
- Disconnect the cable from the mounting bracket (1).
- Disconnect the shift cable (1) from lever.
- Disconnect the cable from the bracket (1).
- Remove upper bell housing bolts (1).
- Remove the upper starter bolts
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove the belly pan if equipped. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
- Remove the cross car cradle brace (1).
- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove both half shafts. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
- Remove two bolts (1) and the left vertical brace from the vehicle.
- Remove four bolts (2) and the left lower frame extension (1).
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire from the loom/clip (1).
- Carefully support the engine with a screw jack or the equivalent.
- Install a suitable transmission jack to the transmission.
- Remove the left side bolts (1) and mount.
- Remove the rear transmission mount bolt (1) from the frame.
- Remove the rear transmission mount bracket bolt (1) and bracket from transmission.
- Remove the remaining transmission bell housing bolts (3).
- Remove the nut (1) and the stud (2) from the transmission case to facilitate removal.
- Remove transmission from vehicle.
