Shifter, Transmission: Removal: Removal

Remove lower instrument panel bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, DRIVER SIDE, REMOVAL , BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, LOWER, REMOVAL , BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL and BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, HEATING AND A/C, REMOVAL .
Disconnect console housing wire connector (2).
Remove the mounting fasteners (1).

Use a flat blade screwdriver or equivalent to carefully lift the locking tab (1) up prior to removing the shifter cable from the shifter assembly.

NOTE:
Do not use the cable itself as leverage to remove the cable end from the shifter, damage to the cable could result.
Disconnect the cable (1) from the shifter lever using a fork trim tool or the equivalent.
Remove the shifter assembly from the vehicle.
