Sunshade, Sunroof: Removal: Removal

  1. Position the sunshade in the fully open position.
  2. Remove the headliner (2). Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVAL .
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

  4. Disconnect the sunshade motor electrical connector (2) from the sunshade motor (1).
  5. Remove the fasteners (3) from the sunshade motor (1).
    NOTE:

    When lowering the sunshade motor (1) be careful not to rotate it. This would cause the bowden/drive cables to move and the sunshade to be misaligned during installation.

  6. Remove the sunshade motor (1) by lowering it straight down, releasing the drive gear from the bowden/drive cables.

  7. Disconnect the sunroof motor wiring connectors (2 and 3).
  8. Carefully cut the wire ties (1).

  9. Remove the fastener (3) securing the sunshade mechanism tubes (2) to the sunroof frame.
  10. Remove the sunshade fasteners (4) securing the sunshade (1) to the sunroof frame.
  11. Repeat on the opposite side.

    NOTE:

    Do not allow the sunshade to become unwound in it's housing.

  12. Carefully move the sunshade assembly (1) rearward, sliding the bowden/drive cables (4) out of the guides (3).
    NOTE:

    Take care not to damage the slides (2).

  13. Remove the sunshade assembly (1) from the vehicle.
