Sunroof, Single Pane: Removal: Removal

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Refer to STATIONARY GLASS, WARNING .
  2. Open the sunshade fully.
  3. Remove the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the right and left sunroof sunshade guides (1). Refer to GUIDE, SUNROOF, GLASS, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the mechanism tubes. Refer to TUBE, MECHANISM, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the sunroof glass. Refer to GLASS, SUNROOF, FRONT, REMOVAL  .

  7. Remove the side curtain air bag (2). Refer to AIR BAG, SIDE CURTAIN, REMOVAL .
  8. To prevent damage during removal of the sunroof frame, release the wiring (1) along the perimeter of the sunroof frame and position the harnesses out of the way.
  9. Remove the liftgate spoiler. Refer to SPOILER, REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the satellite antenna. Refer to ANTENNA, SATELLITE, REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the sunshade. Refer to SUNSHADE, SUNROOF, REMOVAL  .

  12. Apply 2-3 layers of masking tape to the body sides (2) along the perimeter of the rear sunroof glass (3).
  13. Apply 2-3 layers of masking tape to the liftgate along the sides of the rear sunroof glass (3).
    NOTE:

    To cut the urethane bead with a vibrating cutter, an adequate cutter usage capacity is required, as well as an appropriate choice of blades in accordance with the cutting areas and obstructions present.

    NOTE:

  14. Using an assistant and a wire-type glass cut-out tool (1, 3 and 4), cut and separate the urethane adhesive (2) securing the rear sunroof glass to the sunroof frame.

  15. Continue cutting the urethane bead (2) around the entire perimeter, taking care not to damage body sides and the front sunroof glass seal.
    NOTE:

    While cutting the urethane take into account the locations of the glass spacers (1) and the antenna adhesive seal (3).

  16. Using appropriate tools and the help of an assistant, remove the rear stationary sunroof glass from the vehicle.

  17. Working on the rear inner side of the roof, remove the fasteners securing the rear of the sunroof frame, located inside the holes (1).

  18. Apply 2-3 layers of masking tape (1) to the body panels along the perimeter of the sunroof frame (2).
  19. Apply 2-3 layers of masking tape to the liftgate (3) top edge.
    NOTE:

    To cut the urethane bead with a vibrating cutter, an adequate cutter usage capacity is required, as well as an appropriate choice of blades in accordance with the cutting areas and obstructions present.

  20. Using an assistant and a wire-type windshield cut out tool, cut the urethane bead (1) around the perimeter of the sunroof frame.
  21. Carefully lift up on the sunroof frame and cut any remaining urethane with a utility knife.
  22. With the help of an assistant, remove the rear sunroof frame from the vehicle.
