Prop, Gas: Removal: Removal

CAUTION:

Do not use any type of pliers on the machined surface of the gas prop to assist in supporting the hood or decklid. Use a proper device for support, or the help of an assistant.

Open and support the liftgate.

Using a small flat bladed tool (3), or equivalent, release the retaining clips (2) while pulling the ball socket (1) away from the ball stud (4).

Pulling at the end (1) only, remove the support cylinder (2) from the liftgate ball socket.
Pulling at the end (3) only, remove the support cylinder (2) from the body side (3) ball socket.
