Manual Park Release - Vehicle Stuck In Park

NOTE:

Disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. To power down the 12-volt system completely, the 12-volt power down procedure must be carried out.

Power down the 12-volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

With the vehicle on a flat surface, release the parking brake. attempt to roll the vehicle to confirm it is in park.
Remove the rubber access plug (1) On the park pawl motor.

Perform the Park Motor Inspection. Refer to MOTOR, PARK PAWL, INSPECTION .
Insert a 5/32 in. hex wrench (1) into the access hole in the park pawl motor to mate with the park pawl motor shaft.
Rotate the wrench (1) counterclockwise until it stops. This will fully engage the park pawl in the PARK position, and ensure that the motor shaft nut is not jammed.
NOTE:
Over-torque of the shaft will damage the motor.

Rotate the Allen wrench (1) clockwise until it stops at the fully disengaged position, then rotate the Allen wrench back counterclockwise 1/2 turn. The park pawl will now be in the disengaged position.

Reinstall the rubber access plug.
Reconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
