Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Diagnose and repair any Throttle Position Sensor DTCs before continuing.
NOTE:If DTC P2102-ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT LOW is set along with this DTC, perform that diagnostic routine before continuing with this DTC diagnosis. Refer to DTC INDEX - EXCEPT 500L .
- Start the engine and allow it to idle.
- With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Is the DTC Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- THROTTLE PLATE INSPECTION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the Air Cleaner Assembly from the Throttle Body.
- Inspect for any signs of coking or a foreign material (ice or dirt) on the Throttle Plate or in the bore causing the Throttle Plate to stick. Manually move the throttle plate and check for any sticking.
Were any signs of foreign material or scoring of the throttle plate or bore found?
Yes
- Clean the throttle blade and bore if possible or replace the Throttle Body Assembly if necessary. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL . Disconnect the Battery when replacing the Throttle Body Assembly. After installation is complete, use a scan tool and perform the THROTTLE BODY SELF LEARN.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE ETC MOTOR
- Disconnect the Throttle Body harness connector.
- Check the connector and terminals for any corroded, pushed out or damage.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repair.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Throttle Body Assembly. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL . Disconnect the Battery when replacing the Throttle Body Assembly. After installation is complete, use a scan tool and perform the THROTTLE BODY SELF LEARN.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
