Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK PRECHARGE CONTACTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition to RUN.
    2. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Misc Functions, Enable/Disable Contactors and DISABLE the high voltage battery contactors.
    3. Turn the ignition off. Wait two minutes.
    4. Unlock and disconnect the Power Inverter Module (PIM) C1 high voltage harness connector from the High Voltage Battery Pack. Inspect the high voltage cable connector for broken, bent, corroded, burnt or damaged terminals.
    5. Unlock and disconnect the On Board Charging Module (OBCM) C2 high voltage harness connector from the High Voltage Battery Pack. Inspect the high voltage cable connector for broken, bent, corroded, burnt or damaged terminals.
    6. Turn the ignition to RUN.
    7. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Misc Functions, Precharge Contactor and CLOSE the Precharge Contactor.
    8. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Data and verify that the Precharge Contactor is Closed.
    9. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Data and read High Voltage Sensor (pack).

      Is the displayed voltage greater than 200 Volts?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY CABLES 
    1. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Misc Functions, Precharge Contactor and OPEN the Precharge Contactor.
    2. With the scan tool, go to BPCM Data and verify that the Precharge Contactor is Open.
    3. Turn the ignition off. Wait two minutes.
    4. Connect and lock the Power Inverter Module (PIM) C1 high voltage harness connector to the High Voltage Battery Pack.
    5. Connect and lock the On Board Charging Module (OBCM) C2 high voltage harness connector to the High Voltage Battery Pack.
    6. Turn the ignition on.
    7. With the scan tool, erase BPCM DTCs.
    8. Turn the ignition off. Wait two minutes.
    9. Turn the ignition on.
    10. With a scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is DTC P0C78-00-HYBRID/EV BATTERY SYSTEM PRECHARGE TIME TOO LONG set as Active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. CHECK THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY CABLE POLARITY AT THE POWER INVERTER MODULE (PIM) 
    NOTE:

    The Positive High-Voltage Battery Cable (OR) should be installed at the forward position on the PIM. The Negative High-Voltage Battery Cable (OR/BK) should be installed at the most rearward position on the PIM.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Perform the HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN PROCEDURE in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    3. Remove the cover from the Power Inverter Module (PIM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWER INVERTER (PIM), REMOVAL .
    4. Inspect the high voltage battery cable connections at the PIM for broken, bent, corroded, burnt or damaged terminals. Verify that the high voltage battery cables are not reversed and installed correctly. Refer to MODULE, POWER INVERTER (PIM), INSTALLATION .

      Are the high voltage battery cables installed correctly and connectors undamaged?

      Yes 

      No
