Malfunction Criteria for Odd Gears

1st Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no odd gear (1st - 3rd - 5th - RV) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 1st gear engaged.

3rd Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no odd gear (1st - 3rd - 5th - RV) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 3rd gear engaged.

5th Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no odd gear (1st - 3rd - 5th - RV) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 5th gear engaged.

Malfunction Criteria for Even Gears

2nd Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no even gear (2nd - 4th - 6th) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 2nd gear engaged.

4th Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no even gear (2nd - 4th - 6th) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 4th gear engaged.

6th Gear Recognized

The sensors indicate no even gear (2nd - 4th - 6th) is engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 6th gear engaged.

Malfunction Criteria for 1st or Reverse Gear

The failure is detected if the sensors indicate that neither the 1st nor the Reverse gear are engaged or pre-selected and the calculated transmission ratio indicates 1st or Reverse gear is engaged for a calibrated amount of time.
