This diagnostic compares the actual transmission fluid temperature to a predicted transmission fluid temperature obtained by a thermal model. The thermal model is primarily a function of the speed of both input shafts, clutches estimated transmitted torque, engine actual torque and ambient temperature. When the actual transmission fluid temperature deviates from the predicted transmission fluid temperature, the diagnostic will set.
