Seat Back, Front: Disassembly: Disassembly

  1. Remove the seat back frame, cushion and cover as an assembly from the front seat. Refer to SEAT BACK, FRONT, REMOVAL .
    NOTE:

    Models equipped with the round head restraint proceed to step  7.

  2. On vehicles equipped with the seat back bezel, with the use of trims stick C-4775 or equivalent (1), push inward and twist to release the front portion of bezel from the rear bezel (1).
  3. Remove front portion of the bezel.

  4. From the front of the seat, remove the four fasteners (1) that mount the rear bezel (2) to the seat back frame.

  5. Disconnect the lower headrest J-channel by sliding the upper portion (1) and lower portion (2) in opposite directions.
  6. Repeat on the upper headrest J-channel.

  7. On models so equipped, with the armrest (1) in the up position, firmly squeeze seat material inward far enough to expose the circlip (2).
  8. With the use of a small flat bladed tool or equivalent, remove the circlip (2).

  9. Remove the fastener (2) from the upper seat back recliner bezel (1).
  10. Slide the upper recliner handle (3) through the bottom of the bezel (1).
  11. Untuck the seat cushion foam from behind the bezel mounting bracket.

  12. Lift the lower corners of the rear of the seat cover to release the hook and loop fasteners (2).
  13. Unzip the zippers (1) on both sides of the seat back cover.
  14. Unhook lower J-channel on bottom of seat cover.

  15. Lift seat cushion and cover up together (1) far enough to expose the air bag wiring connector located on the rear of the seat back frame.
  16. Disconnect air bag wiring.
  17. Guide the air bag harness (2) out through the opening in the seat cover.
    NOTE:

    Vehicles not equipped with the round head restraint continue to step 21.

  18. Remove the head restraint (1) from the seat back. Press the release tab on the two head restraint sleeves (2 and 3) and pull the head restraint straight upward.

  19. Using a small flat bladed tool (4) or equivalent, release the head restraint sleeve retaining tabs through the openings (2) in the seat back frame.
  20. Using a soft hammer (3) or equivalent, remove the head restraint sleeves.

  21. Remove the seat back cover and cushion from the seat back frame.
  22. Remove the hog rings (2) that secure the seat back cover (1) to the seat back cushion (3) and remove the cover.
  23. If necessary, remove and discard the heated seat pad from the seat back cushion. Refer to PAD, HEATER, REMOVAL .
  24. If necessary, remove the air bag from the seat back frame. Refer to AIR BAG, SEAT, REMOVAL .
